Presenting!

Myrrh's babies arrived safe, sound and a little early (by my calculations) Wednesday evening.
The birthing process is always fun and interesting for me to observe. These cats really have purrsonalities. As soon as I saw that Myrrh was in labor, she was purring loudly and meowing some and her water had broken, I put her in the "kittening box". She lay right down and stayed there. She would leave if I didn't stay with her, so I quickly grabbed some towels, rags, dental floss (to tie embilical cords) scissors and rubbing alcohol to clean the scissors and we settled down to business.
The first kitten was born at 7 p.m. and the last at 10 p.m. Aunt Lily came by and kept an eye on precedings but just watched. Grandma Sheba helped a bit. She helped cut cords and clean up the new babies. Myrrh didn't require any assistance from me except to cut the cord on the last kitten. She was so tired I did this for her.
Baby Skye came by to visit and was very interested in all the commotion but hissed and left. Mia came to say hi and so did Oreo and Maggie. At one point there were kitties lined up just watching mom and her new babies, it looked a little like a feline version of the Nativity scene. Wish I'd had my camera for that one!
So the grand total is 5, not sure who is boys and girls yet but will sort that all out eventually.
